Anti-NATO protests continued in the host cities of Strasbourg in France and Baden Baden in Germany as mainly peaceful and colourfully clad demonstrators took to the streets to make their opposition to the 60-year old alliance clear. They were greeted by police teargas. Both France and Germany put thousands of security personnel on duty in an operation that cost some 110 million euros. In Baden-Baden, about 500 protestors-mostly young adults walked from the main train station to the city centre, flanked on either side by police in riot gear as helicopters buzzed overhead. In a marked contrast to the violent clashes of Thursday.
