At least 14 people have died in a collision between a bus and a truck, east of Moscow.
Passengers aboard the bus stood little chance when their vehicle burst into flames and they were trapped inside. Rescue workers had to peel the blackened roof from the twisted metal frame of the bus to retrieve the victims’ bodies. There have been differing reports on the cause of the crash. Police report the tyres on the truck may have burst, or the driver, who was also killed, may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Local traffic police have launched an investigation The accident happened at Petushki, a 100 kilometres east of Moscow. Most of the dead bus passengers were traders travelling to a Moscow market.
