Lebanon bomb kills senior Fatah official

A senior official in the Palestinian Fatah faction and four other people have been killed by a roadside bomb in Lebanon.

Kamal Medhat and the others were in a car near the Mieh Mieh refugee camp outside the city of Sidon. Tensions have been high there and in a nearby Palestinian camp where Fatah and a range of Islamist factions compete for influence. Kamal Medhat was the deputy head of the Palestine Liberation Organisation in Lebanon. He was accompanying Abbas Zaki, the PLO chief in the country, but he is said to be uninjured. Fatah has described the attack as “an assassination.”More about:
