Tributes have been flooding in for reality tv star Jade Goody, who has died after losing her battle with cancer.
The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said the country admired her for using her fame to provide a future for her sons and to raise awareness of the disease that afflicted her. Even her old foe, Bollywood star, Shilpa Shetty, said she was saddened by the death but was pleased Goody’s out of pain. Jade Goody shot to fame on the reality show “Big Brother.” But a subsequent appearance on a Celebrity version of the show led to her being branded a racist when she insulted Shetty. She regained her popularity, in a large part, because of her apparent courage in the face of a diagnosis of terminal cervical cancer. In recent weeks, Goody married in front of the TV cameras and encouraged media coverage of her illness and its treatment. She leaves sons aged four and five after dying on what is Mother’s Day in Britain.
