Reality TV star Jade Goody dies in UK

After battling cancer in the media spotlight, British Reality TV star Jade Goody has died in her sleep.

The 27-year-old’s plight dominated tabloid headlines in the UK. Even Prime Minster Gordon Brown was asked to comment on her condition. Jade Goody shot to fame in 2002 on the reality show “Big Brother.” She became a regular in gossip magazines, wrote her life story and launched her own perfume. Branded a racist after insulting a Bollywood actress on TV, she worked to regain popularity, appearing on India’s own version of “Big Brother.” It was live on that show last year that she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. In recent weeks, Jade Goody married in front of TV cameras. She leaves sons aged four and five after dying on what is Mother’s Day in Britain.
