German economic recovery hopes rise


German analysts and investors were more optimistic in March about an early recovery in Europe’s largest economy.

The ZEW economic think tank said its monthly poll of economic sentiment hit its highest level in over a year and a half. Calling this the first signs of hope ZEW said: “The bottom of the recession is likely to be reached this summer.” Germany’s economy contracted by 2.1 percent in the fourth quarter of last year.
