Josef Fritzl entered court with his face hidden behind a blue file for a second day, as his abuse trial resumes in St Poelten. The 73-year-old is accused of enslaving his daughter in a cellar for 24-years, rape, incest and the murder of one of his children.
Fritzl denies murder and enslavement but pleaded guilty to incest and “partially” guilty to rape. The court, which is due to hear further pre-recorded evidence from Fritzl daughter, Elisabeth, is being held behind closed doors because of the sensitivity of the testimony. Fritzl is alleged to have lured his daughter into a windowless, soundproofed domain built in his cellar where she was imprisoned and raped repeatedly for over two decades. She along with three of the seven children fathered by him were kept captive in the cellar until the case came to light last April. Austria is in a state of revulsion over the alleged crimes of Josef Fritzl with the country’s newsapers reflecting the mood. One headline, read “Coward till the end”
