Judges resign over Swiss porn inquiry

Two judges have resigned from their posts in the Swiss canton of Jura, in the wake of a scandal over the use of office computers to look at pornographic websites.

Pierre Boiney handed in his notice on Wednesday, five days after his colleague Yves Maitre, who is also the regional prosecutor. In his letter of resignation, the 57-year-old said that, while looking at adult sites did not constitute a criminal offence, he was leaving to protect the integrity of the judiciary. The scandal broke last Friday, when the canton authorities announced that around 30 civil servants were suspected of having looked at pornographic sites in work time. The alarm was raised by technicians back in November, who became concerned about the high level of usage on the local government’s network.More about:
