A Swiss man accused of attempting to blackmail Germany’s richest woman has confessed at the opening of his trial in Munich.

Helg Sgarbi, dubbed the “Swiss gigolo,” was charged with extorting millions of euros from BMW heiress Susanne Klatten and three other wealthy women. Sgarbi’s confession means the victims won’t have to testify. Prosecutors say Sgarbi tried to blackmail some of the victims by threatening to release videos of them having sex. Facing charges of fraud and attempted blackmail, he was accused of approaching his wealthy victims at luxury hotels.
