Guantanamo detainee makes more torture claims

A freed Guantanamo Bay prisoner has made more accusations that British intelligence were complicit in his torture. Binyam Mohamed claimed MI5 sent information to America’s CIA as they interrogated him in Pakistani and Moroccan jails. Mohamed was freed last month and flew back to Britain. He told a British newspaper that part of his torture included his penis being cut several times with a scalpel. He also said his legal team had seen copies of messages from MI5 to the CIA offering background information to verify his answers during interrogation.

Mohamed said British files were produced by his questioners in Morocco, including photos of people living in London, and said Britain had sold him out. The US authorities at one point accused him of preparing to explode a dirty bomb in America, but they eventually freed him from Guantanamo without charge. In London, the Foreign Office insisted it abhored torture and would never condone it. It has launched an investigation into Mohamed’s claims.
