The Israeli entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is a singing duo consisting of Noa – who is Jewish – and Mira Awad who is Arab. They will be singing “Faith in the Light”.

The decision to send an Arab singer to Eurovision comes at a particularly accrimonious moment in Israeli/Palestinian relations, and has been widely denounced as a cyncial attempt to manipulate Israel’s international image. The Eurovision Song Contest has a pan-European audience of around 100 million viewers every year. This year’s Eurovision final will be held in Moscow on 16th May.
