At least nine dead in Schiphol air crash

Nine people have been killed, including three crew members, travelling on a Turkish Airlines passenger jet that crashed at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport.

Another 50 people have been injured, half of them seriously. Six are said to be in a serious condition. The plane was travelling from Istanbul in Turkey with 134 people onboard when it came down just after 10:30 am local time. It is believed most of the passengers were Turkish. Shocking pictures from the scene showed how the plane broke up into three parts when it hit the ground. It is not know what caused the Boeing 737 to crash-land in a field near the airport. Traffic at Schiphol, one of Europe’s busiest hubs, was initially halted, but gradually resumed.
