Tamil Tiger attack kills two in Sri Lanka

world news

| |

At least two people have been killed and more than 40 have been injured after two rebel Tamil Tiger aircraft attacked the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.

A tax office was damaged in the raid. Authorities claim to have shot down one of the planes near the international airport. Cornered in a rapidly shrinking territory, separatist Tamil Tiger rebels have a fleet of small planes that they have used in the past to carry out aerial attacks. Most of their land has now been taken by the army. Some 70,000 people have been killed in the Sri Lankan civil war, Asia’s longest lasting conflict which has been going on for more than 25 years.
