Welsh singer Duffy swept the Brits on Wednesday winning three gongs, including the coverted Best Album prize for “Rockferry”. It is the culmination of a great year for Duffy, relatively unknown twelve months ago.
Tennessee rockers Kings of Leon also won Best International Group and Best International Album for their four-time-platinum release “Only By the Night”. Girls Aloud won Best British Single for “The Promise”, beating tough competition from Estelle for “American Boy”, Leona Lewis for “Bleeding Love”, Duffy for Mercy and Coldplay for “Viva La Vida”. Kylie made a splash with some new backing dancers. The Pet Shop Boys were recognised for their contribution to music, the finale being a medley of their greatest hits.
