With ever more consciousness about the increasing amount of greenhouse gas released into the atmosphere, ordinary incandescent light-bulbs are being billed as the inefficient bad-boys of the lighting world. So British scientists at Cambridge University have been developing a new generation of Light Emitting Diode light-bulb that will not only slash energy consumption but will last for up to sixty years.
