US House approves stimulus plan

The US House of Representatives has easily passed a 600 billion euro stimulus plan aimed at rescuing the struggling economy. However, a week of negotiations and lobbying by President Barack Obama failed to convince a single Republican to support the bill, dashing his quest for bipartisan support. The Senate will likely vote on the package late Friday evening or during the weekend and the President is expected to sign it on Monday.
