Voting in Switzerland on a referendum to allow more EU citizens into its labour market has ended.
The Swiss were deciding on whether to extend the existing agreement covering 25 EU member states and, more controversially, whether to include new members Romania and Bulgaria. Pre-election polls had been pointing to a majority ‘Yes’ vote. The referendum is the third time in eight years the Swiss have had to vote on bilateral treaties with Brussels. The result of the vote is expected later today.
