Still in shock after Friday’s killings at a creche, Belgians will today march in solidarity with the victims.
A constant flow of tributes has followed the attack, in which a man stabbed to death a nine-month old girl, a six-month old boy and a 54-year-old nursery assistant. Residents in the town of Dendermonde are still left with no idea what motivated the killer to commit such an act. A 20-year old Belgian man is due in court on Tuesday charged with murder and attempted murder. Police say the suspect was carrying a knife, a small axe and a false pistol and was wearing a bullet-proof vest when they arrested him. They added that he was not under the influence of drugs and had no record of psychological problems. Authorities have announced that the creche in Dendermonde will close its doors for good.
