Energised by the moment it seemed almost the whole world had converged on Washington, many believed they would not see another day like this in their lives.Despite the cold – it was at least minus six celsius – it was time to party and the normally staid US capital was enjoying the incredible Obama buzz. Hollywood’s great and the good also turned out, led by film maker Steven Speilberg, a huge Obama fan. He contributed to Obama’s inauguration fund. Another well known Democrat supporter, actor Dustin Hoffman, also enjoyed this day, and boxing impressario Don King was there to do his stuff on the sidelines. Much of downtown Washington was on lock down with an unprecedented security presence. It took several hours to get through intense security screening. Most did not mind the inconvenience. Events like this only come along once in a lifetime.
