Unity call by President elect Barack Obama

Barack Obama spent the evening prior to his inauguration calling for unity ahead of his presidency and set the example by dining with his former political foe, Republican John McCain.

“John is not known to bite his tongue and if I’m screwing up, he’s going to let me know. And that’s how it should be because a presidency is just one branch of broader US government, of, by and for the people,” said Obama. On the day when the country commemorated the 80th birthday of Martin Luther King, the President- elect visited a homeless shelter for teenagers and issued a call for all Americans to work together for the good of the nation.
