The United States has a new president and its first African-American leader.
Stumbles notwithstanding, Barack Obama was sworn in during the biggest inauguration ceremony ever seen in Washington. It was a poignant and defining moment in US history, one that some Americans scarcely believed would happen in their lifetimes. Obama, famed for his oratory, rose to the occasion again; “Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real, they are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time, but knowing this America, they will be met,” he said, his confidence lighting up the US capital in these dark economic times.
