Bush bags leave White House  ahead of him

There has been a procession of vehicles heading away from the White House over the last few hours, taking with them stuff accumulated from George W Bush’s eight years as president.

Boxes of documents and presidential gifts no doubt destined for his presidential library, along with furniture and personal effects, have begun the long journey south to Crawford, Texas, the Bush family home. Bush is not the only person leaving an official residence. His vice president, Dick Cheney, has been packing his bags, and has in fact put his back out doing so. He will be watching the Obama inauguration from a wheelchair. The Bush’s only official duty remains to hand over the keys; they will follow their effects south in a final Air Force One flight immediately after the ceremony.
