Spanish industry stumbles


More signs of the deepening recession in Spain as industrial output there suffered its worst fall on record in November.

Production at Spanish factories and mines tumbled just over 15 percent compared with November 2007. Big-ticket durable items like cars and household appliances were down almost 24 percent. Spain’s economy has suffered from the collapse of a construction and consumer spending boom that drove economic growth for 14 straight years.
