A motorcyclist competing in the Dakar Rally in Argentina has been found dead after disappearing on Sunday. Frenchman Pascal Terry, who was 49, had radioed organisers during the second stage of the event to say he had run out of petrol but had been helped out by another competitor.
Afterwards he failed to respond to calls on his satellite link. Organisers say the search party found Terry’s body in an area of dense vegetation, about 15 metres from his bike. He had apparently sought shelter from the sun, though he had food and water available. Argentine authorities are now trying to establish exactly how he died.
