Israel says it is determined to stop Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza.
But, in one of the latest strikes, a kindergarten in the town of Ashdod was hit. Normally, 36 children under the age of four have their lessons and playtime in the building. But classes have been suspended following orders from the government, meaning that when the Qassam rocket fell, the school was empty. The building, which has just been renovated, was almost demolished in the attack. Five people have been treated for shock. Four rockets also fell in the western Negev town of Sderot, one exploding in the garden of a house. There were no casualties, but again people were treated for shock. Other border towns were also targeted. An Israeli police official said more than 500 rockets have been fired over the border in the last ten days.
