As Israel keeps up its airstrikes, Hamas rockets continue to land in Israel. About ten rockets hit the towns of Ashdod and Ashkelon earlier on Saturday, slightly injuring two Israelis. Some 500 rockets are reported to have been fired by Palestinian militants since the Israeli offensive in Gaza began. Four Israelis have been killed.
Critics of Israel argue its operation is disproportionate, given the huge difference in casualty figures on both sides. However, despite mounting international condemnation, Israel maintains that any other country facing the constant threat of rocket attacks would respond in the same way.
