The military action could go on for weeks. That is the message from Israel today, as it continues to reject international calls for restraint in Gaza, including repeated appeals for a ceasefire from the UN Secretary General.Hamas, in control of Gaza, has also vowed to keep up its rocket attacks on Israel, despite the appeals for calm. With the airstrikes now into their fourth day, Palestinian authorities say the death toll in Gaza is now at least 350, with many hundreds more injured. A UN agency says at least 62 of the dead are civilians. Four Israelis have so far died. It is still uncertain if Israel is preparing for a ground offensive, but forces continue to gather along the border.
