Worldwide condemnation of Gaza violence

Around the globe various political figures have called on Israeli and Palestinian forces to stop their continuing reprisal strikes. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon led the way and called for an “immediate end to violence.” Outgoing US President George W. Bush has told Hamas to cease its attacks, while the European Union has demanded both sides “exert maximum restraint.” Elsewhere, aid agencies are expressing fears of a humanitarian disaster as over half the 1.5 million Palestinian population are still dependent on food and medical aid.
