Severe weather on the Mediterranean coast of Spain has caused the deaths of at least four people. Two men drowned in Barcelona and Gandia after waves dragged them into the sea. Another man died when the car he was travelling in crashed into a river in Barcelona. A diver was killed in heavy seas in a town nearby.
In France, in the Eastern Pyrenees, heavy snowfall saw power cut to more than 8000 homes. A strong gale destroyed a dam in the port of Cerbere, causing flooding in the town below. And large waves damaged holiday homes and pleasure boats in the ports of Collioure and Banyuls.
