Iraqi doctor guilty of UK car bomb plots

An Iraqi doctor has been convicted of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause explosions over attempted car bombings in two British cities. Bilal Abdulla was arrested after a failed suicide attack on Glasgow airport in June last year. He was one of two people in a jeep, packed with fuel containers and gas canisters, that was driven into the international terminal. A second attacker died from burns. Earlier, two car bombs left in the busy West End of London failed to explode.

UK-born Abdulla worked at a British hospital as did fellow doctor Jordanian Mohammad Asha. Accused of providing guidance and funding for the attacks, he was cleared of any involvement.
