Possible Al Qaeda bombers arrested in Belgium

Belgian police say 14 people have been arrested, suspected of planning a terrorist attack, possibly on today’s EU summit.

All those taken into custody are thought to have links with Al Qaeda.

Johan Delmulle, the Belgian Federal Prosecutor, said: “We don’t really know where the attack was to take place. It could have been Pakistan or Afghanistan, but we can’t rule out that it was aimed at Belgium or elsewhere in Europe.”

The national broadcaster RTBF is quoting judicial sources as saying that a suicide attack may have been imminent, and may have been targeted at EU leaders in Brussels.
