A deadly car bomb in the Pakistani city of Peshawar has killed at least 20 people and wounded dozens. Police say the blast occurred near a Shi’ite community hall in a heavily-populated district of the city. One building has collapsed and several have been badly damaged in the explosion. Sectarian violence in the North West Frontier Province has worsened in recent weeks with Sunni Muslin militant groups launching several gun and bomb attacks on minority Shi’ites. Pakistan’s army is also carrying out operations against al Qaeda and the Taliban along the violent northwestern border with Afghanistan.
