Most hostages have reportedly been released from the luxury hotels in Mumbai where they were being held by suspected Islamist militants. So-called “mopping up” operations are still underway at the Oberoi Trident and the Taj Mahal Palace.
Police helicopters were seen earlier dropping commandos onto the roof of a Jewish centre, where at least ten Israelis were being kept.
At least seven locations throughout the city, including many tourist hot spots, were targetted by the gang, which launched its coordinated assault Wednesday evening.
At least 130 people died in the ensuing violence and some 300 people are reported to have been injured.
Though many of the targets seem to indicate the gang was aiming at tourists and Westerners, especially Britons and Americans, most of the victims are Indians.
