It is being hailed as the biggest drugs bust in Irish history.
Authorities have seized an estimated 1.7 tonnes of cocaine, with a street value of around 500 million euros, from a yacht off Ireland’s south-west coast.
The vessel had been tracked since leaving the Caribbean last month.
Three British men were arrested in the operation, which was led by Irish police, coastguard and customs.
Drug traffickers typically bring cocaine from South America aboard a large mother-ship before transferring the shipment to smaller crafts off the Irish coast before distributing it across Europe.
