In the wake of Barack Obama’s electoral victory, European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso, has called for the US to join forces with Europe, to tackle the global financial crisis and other major issues facing the world.
“We need a new deal between US and EU. A new deal that covers financial stability, global prosperity, including trade and meeting the Millenium Development goals, the fight against climate change and the promotion of peace and human rights in the world.”
Although Obama will not take office until January, other politicians are already looking to him to lead the recovery of the world economy.
World leaders meet at the White House on November 15th to debate the economic crisis.
