Heavy rain has caused misery in southern France, with several towns around the city of Lyon affected by flooding. Roads have been cut off and hundreds of homes had their power supplies disrupted. The town of Oullins was one of the worst affected, with streams of mud pouring through the streets. Firefighters in the region say they had about 300 callouts during the night to people in distress, including motorists trapped in their cars.
