Like McCain, Barack Obama has been hitting the key swing states as he attempts to shore up his support.

Campaigning in the key battleground of North Carolina the Democratic presidential candidate tried to make light of recent Republican attacks on his economic plans.

‘‘He’s called me a socialist. For wanting to role back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. I don’t know what’s next. By the end of the week he’ll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten,’‘ said Obama.

Tonight Obama steps up his attempt to woo wavering voters, airing a half-hour advert on America’s major TV networks to detail his economic plans.
