“Krabat” is a new cinema release based on a book by the doyen of German children’s literature Otfried Preußler. In the early 17th century, a 13-year-old boy named Krabat, orphaned by the Thirty Years War and the Plague, is driven from his home in Germany, and forced to seek food and shelter. Guided by mysterious forces, he finds himself drawn to a mill, where he is taken under the wing of the owner. It is not long before he realises that he has become an apprentice to an evil black-magic sorcerer.
