Bombers strike twice in Pakistan

It has been a day of carnage in Pakistan after two bombings within a couple of hours of each other.
A car bomb exploded at a police barracks in Islamabad, injuring a number of people and causing huge damage. Then, in the north west of the country, bombers targeted a school bus and a prison vehicle, killing nine people. Medical sources said the victims included schoolgirls, policemen and prisoners.

In Islamabad the bomber managed to get, unchallenged, inside the police barracks, housing Pakistan’s anti-terrorism unit.

Both bombings happened as parliament was meeting for a second day for a classified security briefing on Pakistan’s internal security situation.
It was aimed at finding a consensus on how to tackle growing Islamic militancy and the surge in suicide bombings. Security in Islamabad was already high following the bombing of the Marriott hotel two weeks ago.
