Pope Benedict XVI has arrived in France for a four-day visit in which he is expected to urge Europe to adopt more Christian values. He was greeted by President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The Pope’s message will likely find approval with Sarkozy, who has been calling for a greater recognition of Europe’s Christian roots.

Sarkozy, who has been divorced twice, describes himself as a “cultural Catholic.”

The Pope will celebrate an open-air mass in Paris before leaving for a visit to the shrine at Lourdes.
