In a rare setback for the world’s biggest car maker, Toyota has cut its groupwide global sales forecast for this year by 350,000 vehicles. It now believes that – due a pronounced downturn in the US market – it will sell 9.5 million vehicles.
The weaker sales outlook means global production at the parent company will fall. Compared with last year, it will be down 1% at 8.43 million vehicles. It is the first decline in Toyota’s production in seven years.
