A second man has been charged over the killing of two French students in London.

Daniel Sonnex (23)of Peckham in south London is accused of murder and of attempting to pervert the course of justice. He will appear in court on Monday.

Earlier this week a 33-year old man, Nigel Farmer, was remanded in custody, also charged with the murders, perverting the course of justice and arson.

Students Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo – both aged twenty-three – were tied up, stabbed repeatedly and their apartment was set ablaze.

Police said the crime scene was one of the most gruesome they’ve ever come across.

A 35-year-old man and a woman, aged 25, have been released on bail.

They were arrested but not charged.

The slayings took place at a time when there has been a wave of knife crime in the British capital.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown, has promised to announce new crime-fighting measures next week.
