Extradition for Red Brigades Petrella

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has confirmed the extradition of the former member of the Red Brigades movement, Marina Petrella.

The 52-year-old was convicted by an Italian court in 1992 to a life sentence in absentia for crimes including murder and armed robbery.

She had been living in France since 1986.

The leftist Red Brigades were accused of hundreds of deaths in the 1970s and 80s, including the killings of Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro in 1978.
