Police in London say a second man is now being questioned in connection with the deaths of two French students in a frenzied knife attack a week ago. The 33-year-old was arrested this morning after handing himself in. A 21-year-old man detained over the weekend was freed without charge last night.
Police have also issued an artist’s impression of a man seen running away from the scene on the 29th of June, the night of the murders.
The shocking details of the case have been widely reported in the UK and France. Both men, who were 23, were bound and gagged. Gabriel Ferez was stabbed almost 50 times, while post mortem examination results show Laurent Bonomo was knifed up to 200 times, with up to 80 of the wounds inflicted after his death.
Both men were biochemistry students at a college in Clermont-Ferrand in central France and were in London as part of a short-term research project.
