Police in London have issued an artist’s impression of a man seen running near the scene where two French students were murdered in a frenzied knife attack. The officer in charge of the investigation has urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward.
The parents of one of the students, Francoise and Olivier Ferez, issued a statement, pleading with the killer or killers to turn themselves in. “You will not be able to live in hiding for ever,” it said. “Rest assured that we will not leave you in peace.
The 23-year-old victims had been studying bio-engineering at Imperial College, London. Laurent Bonomo had been stabbed nearly 200 times. His friend Gabriel Ferez had nearly 50 knife wounds. They had been tied up, and the flat at New Cross in South London was set on fire.
The week before, Bonomo had disturbed an intruder who stole a computer and games consoles.
Police have released a 21-year-old man, arrested as part of the inquiry.
