Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has been holding a joint fund-raising dinner in Washington with former rival Hillary Clinton. After some of the hardest fought Democratic primaries in history the aim of the event was to boost party unity.
Hillary Clinton had already praised Obama’s grit and grace and brought with her some of her most loyal fundraisers.
Some serious horse trading was on the cards though. Clinton still owes 20 million dollars, nearly 30 million euros of campaign debt. She cannot help Obama if she is busy balancing the books, her supporters say.
Today they are holding a rally in the town of Unity, in New Hampshire where each garnered 107 votes in the state primary.
The Washington talks marked the first time the two had met since Mrs Clinton suspended her campaign.
