Two bombs in Sri Lanka have left 21 people dead and more than 50 injured. The first bomb was detonated by remote control as a bus passed, during the rush hour, in a suburb of the capital Colombo.
The second occurred a few hours later in the town of Polgolla, in the centre of the country. At least six people were injured in that explosion.
The government has blamed the armed separatist group, the Tamil Tigers. The Sri Lankan military is presently engaged in a huge offensive against their stronghold in the north.
Survivors of the Colombo bomb described a huge explosion which hurled the bus onto its side. Two days ago 27 people were injured when a bomb exploded on the railway line close to Colombo.
