It may not have the lure of the Louvre but an unprepossessing school has become Paris’s late tourist attraction after stealing the limelight at Cannes. Everylife in College Françoise Dolto was the subject of the film which won the festival’s top prize: “They’re tough, but charming,” said one teacher of his pupils. “You have to love them to work with them.”
The film features the students themselves: “The Palme d’Or… they’ve been on the telly. It’s a great film, go and see it,” said one youngster. “I didn’t think they could work like that. They were really serious. They’re the big jokers of the class,” he added.
The students shared centre stage with Hollywood’s finest at the awards ceremony. The film portrays the hardship of life in a tough classroom. But it seems the cast now look on their school in a whole new light.
