“Johnny Mad Dog”, a chilling depiction of African youth stripped of its innocence by civil war, has been presented in Cannes. It is in the running for the ‘Certain Regard’ prize reserved for young and experimental film-makers. French director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire has borrowed from a book by Congolese writer Emmanuel Dongala, and the first-hand experiences of the young cast.
