Fuel explosion in Nigeria after pipeline accident


At least 100 people have been killed and dozens injured in a massive fuel explosion in Nigeria. The ensuing blaze engulfed homes and schools in a northern suburb of Lagos. Many of the dead, including children, were killed in a stampede of people trying to escape the fire.

A bulldozer being used to build a road is believed to have struck one of the many pipelines criss-crossing Nigeria. It was like hell raining down on us survivors said. They claimed the ground grew so hot their shoes melted. Most of the victims in hospital are said to be suffering from serious burns.
